The Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has launched the “Future Research” Series, and signed an MoU with Emarat Al Youm newspaper, aimed at publishing this scientific series that will enable readers to gain in-depth knowledge about the future of the most important sectors and technologies that influence lifestyles and economies globally. As per the agreement, both entities will collaborate to spread knowledge in the society and educate people about the latest technological and intellectual developments around the world.

The Foundation seeks to leverage Emarat Al Youm’s popularity to expand its reach and communicate with a broader segment of society – particularly those with an affinity for science and technology. According to International Telecommunication Union (ITU) statistics, online Arabic content is still quite rare, with a rate not exceeding 3%. The dissemination of the research on Emarat Al Youm’s digital and print editions is set to encourage and inspire readers with an interest in science, and, subsequently, stimulate innovation and scientific research in the Arab world.

Emarat Al Youm newspaper will obtain the rights to republish the scientific content and research published on DFF’s Mostaqbal Portal, in a bid to broaden its readers’ scope and educate them about the latest developments in strategic and innovative sectors.

The newspaper will also receive visual material from Mostaqbal Portal, which has proven popular with Arab online audiences, attracting more than 114 million views on the portal’s official social media accounts, where 90 videos were posted every month – about 3 videos per day.

His Excellency Saif Aleeli, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, said: “The Foundation has its sights set on training individuals to develop their skillsets and educate them about the latest scientific and technological developments. This resonates with the Dubai Future Agenda, which seeks to support the individuals, institutions, and sectors who are working to catapult the UAE to the forefront of the future industry.”

“This agreement seeks to provide an opportunity for people in the UAE to stay informed and up to date with the latest technological advancements and discoveries, and inspire a new generation of innovators,” H.E. continued. “This allows people to realize their full potential and become future-ready. With the rapidly advancing scientific and technological sectors, we have sensed a heightened interest in some segments of society to learn about all these innovations. This was seen clearly in the massive popularity of the Mostaqbal Portal among Arab followers on social media, who have exceeded 4 million in number.”

H.E. Al Aleeli added: “Our partnership with Emarat Al Youm allows us to reach new segments of society, given the newspaper’s wide readership. We always look forward to cooperating with media institutions and electronic platforms to spread knowledge and position the Mostaqbal Portal as a leading and reliable platform for science and technology.”

Sami Al Reyami, Editor-in-Chief of Emarat Al Youm Newspaper, said: “This MoU with the Dubai Future Foundation complements all initiatives and programs launched under the National Strategy for Reading (2016-2026), and the Year of Reading 2016 initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. It also adheres to the outcomes of the retreat His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, called for in December 2015. H.H. Sheikh Mohammed said: ‘Reading is the number one skill our children need. The government’s job is not only to provide services but also to mold minds and skills. In the coming stages, the UAE will need an educated, well-read generation with passion and curiosity for learning.’”

Al Reyami added: “This agreement resonates with the newspaper’s objective to spread knowledge and awareness in society and to inform the public of the latest scientific developments. This, in turn, creates a generation of innovators and scientists who will add momentum to the renaissance that is taking place in the UAE, across all sectors. The newspaper seeks to intensify its efforts to spread science, knowledge, and culture in the community, and to build on the achievements it has registered over the years – most recent of which was being honored as one of the UAE Pioneers by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid as the best newspaper encouraging reading among children.”

Dubai Future Foundation launched Mostaqbal Portal to boost Arabic-language scientific content and to disseminate research, studies, articles, visual material, and infographics in several areas related to science and technology, including space science, advanced health sciences, artificial intelligence, networking, and general scientific studies, among others. It is one of the initiatives falling under the umbrella of the Dubai Future Agenda, launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and adopted as a strategic framework for all Dubai Future Foundation activities.
