Fatima Bint Mohamed Bin Zayed Initiative showcases works of Afghan artisans at AREA 2071

The Fatima Bint Mohamed Bin Zayed Initiative (FBMI) has organized an exhibition of artisan products from Afghanistan, titled ‘To the Next 50 Years’, at AREA 2071 in Emirates Towers with the aim of offering Afghan women the opportunity to improve their living conditions and contribute to their communities.

The event falls within the framework of FBMI’s development and humanitarian projects that seek to empower disadvantaged segments of society, provide them with sustainable income sources, and improve their access to clean water, healthcare, education, and social and economic benefits.

To date, the initiative has offered direct and indirect support, including education and free healthcare, to over 30,000 people in Afghanistan. It provided job opportunities to more than 4,000 artisans, 70 percent of whom are women, while enrolling over 9,000 children in local schools and arranging medical treatment for more than16,000 people.

FBMI launched the Mira project that markets the finest organically grown and hand-picked saffron, dried and fresh fruits, nuts, and other foodstuffs from Afghanistan’s farms.

Meanwhile, its Zuleya e-commerce enterprise sells handmade carpets and lifestyle products made in Afghanistan to consumers in the UAE and reinvests all profits in the initiative’s projects. In addition to displaying its products in showrooms across the country and on the FBMI website, Zuleya will also launch an online platform to increase its global presence and help preserve traditional crafts, support communities, and ensure a better future for the next generations.
