This session is exclusive to Dubai Future Accelerators – Cohort 8 Participants.

As part of our goal at the Dubai Future Accelerators program, we aim to help the companies succeed by opening up opportunities for them to connect to our wider ecosystem to learn, grow and build their network during and after the program.

In this workshop, legal experts Masha Ooijevaar and Scott Gardiner from Clyde & Co will join us to give you a better insight on the UAE Law for Technology Start-ups tackling the below focus areas:
• Basics of the legal environment in the UAE
• Data Protection, cyber-crimes and cyber security
• Intellectual Property

Speakers:

Masha Ooijevaar, Associate at Clyde & Co

Masha is an associate in Clyde & Co's commercial, intellectual property and technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) group in the Middle East. She has been based in Dubai since 2019 after relocating from London, where she trained in-house at one of the largest global entertainment companies and later worked at several leading international law firms. Masha advises on a range of transactional and advisory commercial and TMT matters, including data processing agreements and privacy compliance. She has been involved in the development of data protection policies and programmes, data protection impact assessments, in-house privacy training and advising on cross-border data transfers. Masha's clients include both public and private sector entities in the healthcare, automotive, financial, education, media and entertainment sectors, as well as some of the world's largest technology companies.

Scott Gardiner, Associate at Clyde & Co

Scott is an associate in Clyde & Co’s Intellectual Property Group, based in the Dubai office. A UK Chartered Trade Mark Attorney, Scott has substantial experience in providing strategic advice to businesses of all sizes on all aspects of brand protection, exploitation and enforcement. Scott has worked with companies operating within a wide range of industries including, amongst others, the automotive, fast moving consumer goods, pharmaceutical, retail and gaming sectors, advising on both contentious and non-contentious trade mark issues.
